50 Years of Leather, Stories and Style

Owners Jeremy Bond and Nancy Kirby have proudly served the community through Champlain Leather for more than five decades. What began with handcrafted leather goods sold at local craft shows and a small retail shop has evolved into a trusted destination for exceptional leather craftsmanship, expert repairs, custom alterations, and one-of-a-kind creations. Today, our original storefront continues to welcome customers in the heart of downtown Burlington, where quality, personalized service, and a passion for the craft remain at the center of everything we do.

THE START

Inspiration derived from craft shows attended in the beginning became an interest in supplying other leather shops that were plentiful at the time.

EVOLVING

By the time their numbers declined, our concentration turned to more creative endeavors like custom work.

EXPANDING

Over the years, the range of output has included jackets, bags, belts, and furniture, all fueled by the desire to see, at the end of the day, the products produced by our hands and treasured by the customers for the beauty, utility, and durability contained therein.

TODAY

Our products appealed to other leather shop owners, so a separate workshop produced jackets, vests, bags, and a variety of small accessories. After 20 years, this was scaled down, and the focus now is on high-quality retail service for discerning customers.
